Michael Brook, hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, began his musical journey at age 7, making his orchestral debut with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as the Young Artist Concerto Competition winner.

 

During his time at Louisiana State University, he earned recognition by winning the Sidney M. Blitzer Award in the Concerto Competition. At the University of Colorado Boulder, he completed a Dual Masters Degree in Violin and Viola Performance, achieving success in competitions like the Ekstrand Graduate Competition and MTNA Young Artist State Competition. Michael also participated in international competitions such as the Joseph Szigeti International Violin and Viola Competition, the Tertis International Viola Competition, and Boulder International Chamber Music Competition "Art of Duo," where he was a semifinalist. He had the honor of performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, as part of the SHIFT festival featured in the New York Times. 

 

Presently, Michael serves as the Concertmaster of the Longmont Symphony, assumes the role of Principal Violist with the Colorado Ballet, holds the positions of Assistant Principal Violist with Boulder Philharmonic and acting Assistant Principal with Opera Colorado, and is a core member of Boulder Bach Festival's COmpass Resonance Ensemble.

 

Michael also is an avid collector of fine instruments from around the world, further enriching his passion for music and the arts.
